2006 Eastern Snow Conference
Instructions for Authors

This year authors have two options for publishing research presented at the ESC Meeting. Authors may publish their work in the annual Eastern Snow Conference Proceedings AND You may also submit your manuscript for possible publication in the special December issue of Hydrological Processes, dedicated to the Eastern and Western Snow Conference Meetings.

Detailed instructions on submitted publications to both the Eastern Snow Conference Proceedings and Hydrological Processes are found below. These instructions are also available as PDF and Microsoft Word documents.

Eastern Snow Conference Proceedings

As of 1999, there are now more options for authors preparing papers for the ESC Proceedings. Authors may choose to submit a full-length paper or an extended abstract for publication in the Proceedings. The review process is now optional, but encouraged as it improves the quality of the manuscript. Please inform the session chair at the meeting of your publication plans. This year, Robert Hellström and Susan Frankenstein are editors of the ESC proceedings.

Authors wishing peer-review of papers they are submitting to the ESC Proceedings should give drafts of their paper to their session chair at the conference. The session chairs will distribute the papers to the reviewers, collect the completed reviews, and forward papers and reviews to the ESC editors by early July. By 15 July, the editors will forward papers and reviews to authors along with instructions for preparing the final manuscript. These instructions can also be found at the ESC web site listed below.

All authors must mail camera-ready ESC papers or extended abstracts to Robert Hellström by early August. Electronic submission is highly encouraged. The Microsoft Word template and style guide available on the the ESC Website will greatly aid your preparation of a camera-ready manuscript or extended abstract.

Hydrological Processes

All papers presented at the 2006 ESC are eligible for peer review and possible publication in a special issue of Hydrological Processes, assuming the subject matter of these papers fit within the scope of the journal. Editors for this special issue are John Pomeroy and Andrew Klein.

The Editors follow the standard editorial procedures of Hydrological Processes. Both Authors and Editors must adhere to the strict guidelines and deadlines outlined below.
To submit a DRAFT manuscript for technical and editorial review, please follow these instructions.

  1. The editors must receive full, draft manuscripts within 1 week following the conference. Please mail 4 copies of your draft to John Pomeroy. If possible, please also send your manuscript as an E-mail attachment or a file on CD.

If acceptable, your revisions and final manuscript are due to the editor by early September. Please note that final manuscripts for Hydrological Processes do not need to be in camera-ready format.
