Conference Information
The 63rd Eastern Snow Conference (ESC) will be held on the campus
of the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, USA, 7-9 June 2006.
This meeting will be held jointly with the Cryosphere Specialty Group
of the Association of American Geographers. The scientific program
is open to sessions on theoretical, experimental, and operational
studies of snow, ice, and winter hydrology. We anticipate sessions
on "Snow-Climate Interactions",
"Snow Processes", "Ground
Ice and Periglacial Processes"
and "Remote Sensing of Snow."
Student paper awards are available.

Abstract Submissions
You are invited to submit an abstract for an oral or a poster presentation.
An abstract of 150-200 words should be submitted electronically
using this Word Template to ensure
correct formatting and style. All abstracts should be submitted
by 24 February 2006 to the program

Publications
All accepted papers will be published
in the ESC Proceedings. Authors also have the option
of submitting their work for consideration for publication in a special
issue of Hydrological Processes. The subject matter
of these papers must fit within the scope of the journal.

All persons interested in submitting
a paper to the ESC Proceedings should contact their
session chair at the meeting. The chair can arrange for an optional
technical review of the paper prior to its submission to the
ESC Proceedings.
Student Paper Competition
Students are encouraged to enter the ESC Student Paper
Competitions. For conditions and details please consult the ESC web
site. The winner of the best student paper will receive the Wiesnet
Medal, a $500 Cdn prize, and up to $250 toward travel expenses to
attend the conference, while the Campbell Scientific Canada Award
of $500 will be awarded to the most innovative use of technology in
the gathering of data. To be considered for these awards, four copies
of the paper with the supervisor's endorsement must reach the Chair
of the Research Committee, Steven Fassnacht, postmarked no later than
28 April, 2006.

Arriving by air
The Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is the closest
airport. The Delaware Express Shuttle is available and will take you
from airport directly to conference facility.
Their Shuttle number is 1.800.648.5466.
If you mention you are on UD (University of Delaware) business you
may obtain a discounted rate of approximately $35 plus gratuity each
way.

Accommodations
Two types of accommodating are
available for participants conveniently located on campus near the
conference center
UD Marriott Courtyard
The UD Marriot Courtyard is located immediately adjacent
to the conference center.
A block of rooms is available at the group rate of
$119 per night plus tax. To obtain the discounted rate you must mention
you are with the ESC and you must place your reservation by May
16 2006 to obtain the reduced rate.

UD Campus Dormitories
A block of rooms has been reserved
in a dormitory near the conference center. Single rooms are available
for 39.00 per night (plus a 2 handling fee) and double rooms are available
for 32.00 per person per night. A 2.00 handling fee will also be charged.

is located approximately 8 miles from the Conference Facility). Camping
